Back from Vacation....

We are back from vacation.  It was wonderful!  Just my husband and I.  We dropped the kids off with his parents and took off to Bar Harbor, Maine!  It was gorgeous there!  We are already planning our vacation for next year to take the kids with us!  We drove halfway and stopped in Boston for the night as we drove up.  We did take a pit stop in Newport, Rhode Island to walk a little at the Cliff Walk.  Huge houses. 

Boston was nice, nothing that I expected.  I would have liked to have stopped in Cambridge and taken a look at Harvard.  Maybe have bought Haley a Harvard sticker to post in her bedroom like Rory from the Gilmore Girls!  Then maybe have stopped at Yale and do the same thing!  We did part of the Freedom Trail.  It was nice to see all the old buildings and eat some pastries from Mike's Pastry after standing in line out the door for it! 

 

From Boston, we went up the coast on Route 1.  We stopped in Portland, Maine and saw the Portland HeadLight and Old Port.  We climbed the rocky coast and took pictures.

Then we stopped at Cappy's Restaurant in Camden for lunch.  They have fantastic food!  We also bought blueberry jam, yummy toast spread, and their fantastic spicy mustard sauce!  After the walk down to the harbor, we decided to head to our apartment that we were renting in Southwest Harbor, near Bar Harbor.  We were so tired from driving all day.  We crashed on the king size bed, only to wakened by the sun the next morning at 4:45 a.m.  We couldn't sleep past 5:30 every morning there, even though there was fog!  We drove the Park Loop Road, climbed Cadillac Mountain, hiked over the rocky coast, went on a lighthouse cruise, and had Lobster.  It was so much fun.  Here's just a sample of our photos we took while there....

Busy....Again.

I am so sorry for not posting for a while.  I have been busy with my daughter's birthday party, then getting her ready to leave for a surprise vacation to Disney World courtesy of her grandparents, trying to keep the boys happy while their sister was away, then picking her up in New Jersey and dropping off one of the boys there.  It's exhausting as a mother.  My husband and I did keep the boys busy....

We took a trip to the Kinzu Dam and Allegheny Reservoir...

Did some exploring....

Found some wild strawberries (didn't eat them)....

Had ice cream at a really cool little ice cream place....

Caught 22 fireflies....

and watched fireworks!

I have been running around.  I just picked up my cousin's daughter today in Ohio and visited with my cousins.  This week I will be keeping Jordan with us so that Haley can get to know her 3rd cousin.  It will be a fun week!  After that, my husband and I will pack up the kids and ship them with his parents for a week as he and I go on a little vacation away without kids.  I am totally looking forward to a week in Maine!  A week will not be long enough!

So, Haley's party was great!  The kids enjoyed it!  We projected a movie outside on a screen.  They made s'mores and laid around watching the movie while getting eaten by mosquitoes.  I forgot about the bug repellent!  That's not the only thing....I made cupcakes and forgot to have them until after most of the kids left!  Shame on me!  I didn't get a chance to take any good photos of the party because I was really busy.  It was a long day and things were not working right.
